Our Doctors

Dr. John Flynn has been practicing at Frederick Veterinary Center for over 22 years. He received his D.V.M. degree from Ontario Veterinary College in Guelph, Ontario, Canada. Before coming to Frederick, Dr. Flynn was in rural veterinary practice in Union Springs, New York and then in Tranquility, New Jersey.  His special interests in veterinary practice include the human-animal bond and veterinary public health issues. Dr. Flynn lives in Frederick with his wife Barbara and their cat Pushkin. After completing college, their daughters Meredith and Jessica live in New York and Rhode Island respectively. Dr. Flynn's outside interests include forestry, history, agriculture, and reading. He is a big fan of Frederick, and you can find him each year volunteering his veterinary services at the Great Frederick Fair's Birthing Center.

Dr. Sharon Thomas grew up in Howard County, MD and received her D.V.M. degree from the Virginia Maryland Regional College of Veterinary Medicine in 1995. Before coming to Frederick, Dr. Thomas worked at a mixed animal practice in Howes Cave, New York and then a small animal practice in Vail, Colorado. After moving back to Maryland with her husband John and son Erik, Dr. Thomas came to work here at Frederick Veterinary Center. Dr. Thomas has a special interest in animal behavior and training. Outside of work, she and her family enjoy camping, hiking, biking, and walking together with their dog Bella.
